Highland Park appoints Kristi McCaulou as new finance director

The City of Highland Park has announced the appointment of Kristi McCaulou as its new Finance Director, effective September 2024. McCaulou, who has served as the Deputy Finance Director for seven years, will succeed retiring Finance Director Julie Logan. During her tenure, McCaulou has led the City’s annual audit process, resulting in consistent unmodified opinions and zero management letter comments. She has also managed the implementation of the City’s new enterprise resource planning system, which integrates financial, human resources, and billing management systems.

McCaulou has a strong background in financial management, having previously served as Associate Director of Fiscal Services for Round Lake Area Schools and holding various roles at Medline Industries. She has been recognized for her professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the City’s financial goals. McCaulou will continue to work closely with the City Council and City Manager Ghida Neukirch to support the City’s priorities of fiscal stability, public safety, infrastructure investment, economic development, and environmental stability.

Prior to her retirement, Finance Director Julie Logan will be honored at the September 23 City Council meeting for her leadership, sound financial counsel, and careful stewardship of the City’s finances. The transition will see Director Logan and Director-designate McCaulou share public-facing responsibilities relative to the FY 2025 proposed budget. The City’s budgeting process, which began in May, is available for public review on the City’s website.
